High School Showcase - Team Oregon Coaches Announced

Oregon State Hockey Association is pleased to announce that the coaching staff for the upcoming High School Showcase in Pittsburgh has been chosen.  We were happy to see so much interest in Oregon's newest adventure. We had several very well qualified applicants.  After much consideration, we chose Flint Doungchak as the Head Coach of Team Oregon.  He brings to the table many years of coaching at all levels and is currently involved with the LAHA Jr. Generals and the Eugene Generals junior team.  Flint chose Michael McMahan and Erich Weber as Assistant Coaches.  Mike is also involved with the LAHA Jr. Generals association as a coach.  Erich has been active in the RVYHA program for several years as coach, referee, board member and is currently OSHA's Vice President.

The Showcase is just around the corner so watch for additional information to be forthcoming via email and posted on our website.

Please help us say thank you to the coaches for volunteering to take our players to the next level.  We are confident that Flint, Mike, Erich & Team Oregon will make us proud.

Congratulations and Good Luck!

USA Hockey Selects Festival - Camp Selections

Eugene's Lane County Ice was the host for this year's Selects Festival. Over 50 of Oregon's best male and female skaters show cased their talents in front of an enthusiastic crowd of parents, coaches and evaluators. The camp was a combination of skill-drills and scrimmages which were designed by OSHA Coach In Chief Tim Moran and Portland Jr Hawks Coach Pat Moran.

Invited were skaters in birth years 1992-1995. Coach Moran mixed lines of male and female skaters for the second year in a row, with great success. Evaluators were invited from around the State for both the boys and girls to allow them to focus on subsets of players. Every player took away new skills and new friends.

Evaluating players was difficult as there was tremendous depth in talent, but the evaluators have made selections for the coming Pacific District camp which will, in-turn select players for the National Camp.

Bobby Freeland Growth & Development Fund

Robert Freeland, better known as Coach Bobby to all who knew him, left a profound positive image in everything that he touched.  He was the ultimate player, coach, friend, father and husband.  He passed away peacefully in June 2006.

In his honor, USA Hockey's Pacific District has created the:

BOB FREELAND HOCKEY GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

This program, The Bobby Freeland Growth & Development Grant, epitomizes what Bobby stood for.  He was always looking for ways to “grow the game” in any way he could.  This program will keep that spirit alive.  Use this grant wisely and his legacy will be carried on forever.
